Jonathan Dugas, Ph.D. and Ross Tucker, Ph.D. have a fantastic blog on the science
of sport and training. Check out their take on the Superbowl and their keen observation on Gatorade vs bananas.

On the sociological side, check out Kelly Johnson's blog report on the Portland
Urban Iditarod. The Urban Iditarod is basically an alternative to real sport. It's not dog sledding, and it's certainly
not a real race. It's (usually) costumed individuals running through the streets pulling a shopping cart from one
bar to another. Playful behavior is the norm among social organizations, but where do we draw the line of acceptance
during a public event? Joke sports such as extreme ironing do no harm, while these participants often show displays
of antisocial anger, blocking car traffic and damaging property while passing themselves off as runners.
