Event Management directs several races they own, in addition to providing event management services to
smaller venues. In addition to race directing, they provide other race-associated services, including printing
displays and shirts. Event Management has ties to the Oregon Road Runners Club and the Gecko Tri Club, but operate
separate from any other entity. One remarkable thing about Event Management is the number of races they do each
year, and the percentage that change from one year to the next. They're not as consistent as some of the other
race directors, but they do offer a variety of events, specializing in Vancouver, Gresham, and the mid-Willammette
Valley area.
It looks like they're currently trying to improve their race calendar by offering
or partnering with a new sign-up program called ORrun (orrun.com). This will put them in competition with Racecenter
NW and the Athletes Lounge, but we'll see how it works for them once the program is completed. The greatest race
Event Management does is a knock-off of the Hood To Coast called Raineer To Pacific which, although lacking the
frenzied party atmosphere of H2C, actually makes up for it with accessibility. It's overall much cheaper than Hood
To Coast, there aren't the long van traffic jams near the end, and a new team has a much better chance of getting
in. Other notable races are the Hood River Valley Relay and Beat the Burnside.
